The Face The Flag፡ A rejection of Ethiopia, an assertion of Tigrayan nationalism
A Tigrayan social media campaign “the flag the face” is trending on twitter. The campaign is about juxtaposing the Tigrayan flag and the person’s photo and post them on twitter and other social media. The campaign is an assertion of Tigrayan nationalism and a rejection of Ethiopia and its symbols. Tigrayans have throughout their history been staunch Ethiopians and defenders of Ethiopia, but the last few years and the war on Tigray has changed their views forever. There is a popular consensus that Ethiopia can not anymore be a homeland for Tigrayans and that Tigrayan independence is the way forward.
